Route 66 Texas Series by joel SampsonThis photographic series covers the Mother Road, Route 66 within Texas. I traveled all 178 miles - from Texola, Oklahoma to Glenrio Texas/New Mexico. While Rt. 66 has been paved, widened and moved over the years, 90% of the original road still exists. It's goes through an interesting mix of agriculture, oil, small towns, one urban city (Amarillo), ghost towns, present and past tourist attractions. The road also cuts through one of the largest mesas on the continent, the Llano Estacado, or Staked Plains. In the summer you are as likely to see an European on a Harley Davidson touring Route 66 as a Texan. I'm shooting the series with a Nikon D300 Digital SLR and an assortment of Nikor optics from 14mm to 400mm. Images are printed using my Epson 9880 printers with archival pigmented ink. I am printing on paper and canvas. The sizes listed are approximate image size and can be varied.
