I am an artist with a studio in Dallas, Texas. I work in digital imaging, collage and mixed media. My influence is geometric abstraction and industrial art between the wars. I'm interested in design, color and texture. My work often contains a combination of technical, scientific and natural images. Whimsey is an important element of my work. My photographic digital images is of urban landscape from large and small cities. I have been photographing more people lately, especially at art openings and in a self-portrait loo series. Much of my digital images end up as collage elements in my mixed media paintings. Art Exhibits and NewsI now own a new Epson 9880 printer! So I will be printing 44" wide and smaller digital images in-studio on paper and canvas. The images are archival and look great! Looking forward to producing a lot of new work! I'm also working with a new Nikon D-300 D-SLR and a Sony W300 P&S. Fall group exhibits are down and things have finally slowed down. I took a four day painting workshop with Louise Cadillac, who is a pioneer in experimental art, and a five day workshop with John Salminen in Oklahoma City. I'm working on some past due marketing and several new art projects. I've been playing quite a bit of music in my project music studio. I'm slowly working on a jazz CD of original songs and songs from the 20's. I've been playing quite a bit of alto and soprano sax plus flute and alto flute. I also play guitar, piano and bass. I find a relationship between my visual art and music.
I received the $1000 Daimler Financial Services Award in the 2008 TCU (Texas Christian University) Art in the Metroplex exhibit! The juror was Eleanor Heartney, contributing editor for Art in America and a frequent New York City art critic and author.
