Collage and Mixed Media by joel Sampson

I have recently been doing collage and mixed media paintings using maps and vintage player piano rolls. The map series is small, typically 12" square. The piano roll series vary from small to medium size. I'm using black and white solvent toner transfer with many of these pieces.

My mixed media and collage paintings incorporates my own photography and 19th century engravings gleaned from my collection of antique books. I strive for design, color and whimsy. I use a variety of techniques, including archival images printed on watercolor paper, toner transfer, toner lifts and other techniques. I'm always trying to simplify!

I'm still painting personal abstract watercolor and acrylic works on paper for watercolor shows. I like the painting process and just can't help it!
